Chelsea remain interested in signing Sunderland striker Brian Brobbey following their interest in the Netherlands international this summer.
The 24-year-old scored seven goals in 31 Premier League appearances during his debut season at the Stadium of Light and he subsequently caught the eye at the 2026 World Cup, netting on three occasions in three starts for his country.
Chelsea were among the clubs reportedly keeping tabs on Brobbey’s situation throughout the summer transfer window, following his impressive start to life in England, and they remain attentive to his progress, as per a report from Blues journalist Simon Phillips.
Chelsea scouts are understood to be watching Brobbey’s performances this season very closely and they will have been left thoroughly impressed following his hat-trick, and all-round display, against Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.
The Dutchman has emerged as one of Chelsea’s earliest transfer targets for 2027 and while landing a new centre forward isn’t regarded as a priority by the Stamford Bridge hierarchy, they are scouting him on a regular basis and could seriously pursue a deal if his form continues.

Chelsea oversaw a mass overhaul of their attacking roster during the summer transfer window, with Marc Guiu, Liam Delap, Nicolas Jackson, Tyrique George and David Datro Fofana all departing, and Morgan Rogers, Danny Welbeck, Dastan Satpaev, Emmanuel Emegha and Geovany Quenda arriving.
Their interest in Brobbey may come as a slight surprise given the depth of striker options now on the club’s books, with Satpaev and Shumaira Mheuka both out on loan this season, but they are keeping tabs on his development ahead of a potential pursuit.
The Dutchman hasn’t been prolific during his time in the Premier League, but he is one of the most difficult strikers to stop in the entire division and he would likely be an excellent signing for Chelsea if they are able to tempt Sunderland into a deal.
However, Brobbey still has three years remaining on his current contract at the Stadium of Light and while his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) stands at just €39.5 million, Regis Le Bris’ side would likely demand a far greater fee to sanction a sale next summer.
