Arsenal will use the September international break to finalise details over a new long-term contract for Declan Rice, FootballTransfers has been told.
The 27-year-old’s current deal at the Emirates Stadium is due to expire in 2028 and although Arsenal have the option to extend this by a further 12 months, we understand that fresh terms are set to be agreed shortly.
Rice will be rewarded with a substantial salary increase when he puts pen to paper on his new deal, with sources informing us that he will earn around £280,000 per week on an extremely lucrative five-year contract.
The England midfielder has withdrawn from Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the Three Lions’ upcoming Nations League fixtures to manage his workload, and we understand that contract extension talks will intensify this week.
Arsenal have been eager to finalise a new deal with Rice for several months and progress is expected to be made over the coming days as the Gunners look to secure the long-term future of one of their most prized assets.
Meanwhile, we have been told that Ben White will also sit down with club officials over a contract extension too. He has two years remaining on his existing deal and despite rumours suggesting that he could’ve left the club over the summer, he remains a key player under Mikel Arteta.
White will not leave Arsenal in January, FootballTransfers can confirm, and contract talks are set to ramp up over the international break. The 28-year-old was likely to have been included in the England squad if he was fully fit, but he is currently ruled out with a hamstring issue.

In addition to Rice and White, Arsenal are also locked in negotiations with Arteta, whose current contract is due to expire at the end of the 2026-27 season.
However, there is significant optimism from all parties that fresh terms will be finalised shortly, with an official announcement expected soon.
Arteta guided Arsenal to their first Premier League title since 2004 last term and the club have no intention of allowing him to depart, while the Spaniard remains entirely satisfied at the Emirates Stadium.
