Arsenal have reportedly been inundated with loan offers for 16-year-old wonderkid Max Dowman ahead of the upcoming winter transfer window.

The teenager is regarded as one of the brightest young prospects in world football and he has slowly been integrated into the senior set-up at the Emirates Stadium over the past 12 months, notably scoring a brace versus Ipswich Town in the Carabao Cup last week.

Dowman, who is Arsenal’s youngest-ever starter and goalscorer, is eligible to leave the Gunners on loan after his 17th birthday on New Year’s Eve and TEAMtalk claim that more than a dozen clubs have contacted Mikel Arteta’s side to gauge the possibility of a loan deal in January.

Arteta is open to finalising a loan move with Dowman’s camp and a plethora of English teams have now registered their interest in the England U19 international, including Burnley, Coventry City, Norwich City and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers are also keeping close tabs on Dowman’s situation ahead of a potential January swoop, with Arsenal set to assess a possible transfer over the coming months.

Luton Town have also been touted as a potential destination, with former Arsenal academy head coach Jack Wilshere currently in charge of the League One outfit.

Mikel Arteta confirms Max Dowman transfer stance

While Arsenal are keen to keep Dowman in the building, Arteta has admitted that a loan deal will be explored when the winter transfer window opens, with the club eager to fast-track his development.

“We haven’t really listened to any of the possibilities because we were clear that we want to have him in the squad, that we wanted him to be part of the pre-season,” Arteta told reporters last week.

“I’m going to start to see where we are from there. We will evaluate every six months where we are, what is the best thing for him to do and from there make the right decisions.

“It will depend on a lot of factors: what he needs, where the team is as well, the availability that we have in the squad, the amount of minutes that he’s playing, the quality he’s delivering when he’s got those minutes.”

Arteta added: “We have to be open, but now the focus is to be here and impact the team. There have been many cases of that age that they’ve gone and they’ve been successful, some others not. Particularly, I think I was 17 when I went to Paris [from Barcelona in 2001].

“Depending on the atmosphere that you find there, how much the coach believes in you, you go there just to be part of a squad, not to play minutes. Which country, depends. But now he’s in a great place. He’s in a good place right now, and let’s keep him here.”
