Nigeria will continue its hunt for continental glory this Tuesday, as the country’s senior team go out in battle at the 2026 African Men’s Volleyball Nations Championship in Tunisia, with eyes on the September 27th final in Tunis.
Sports247 reports that, with eyes also on qualification for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, USA, the team’s Japanese coach, Ryan Masajedi Masajedi selected two setters, two opposites, two liberos, four outside hitters and four middle blockers in his 14-man squad.
Two new players also made the final roster announced by Masajedi, who is at the helm of the technical crew that also has Taiwo Oladipupo, as first assistant coach, and Jonah Adamu, the second assistant, while the setters are Bruno Ibeh and Adeniyi Favour.
Armstrong Udoka and Okonkwo Ebuka will provide options in the opposite position, while the outside hitters are Ogunshina Obayemi, Emmanuel Udah, Faruk Lucky and team captain, Abdulquadri Jaiyeola, joined by two liberos – Abednego Hassan and Tiamiyu Ismail.
Four middle blockers – Anele Timothy, Pascal Ozokoye, Kaseem Mutiu and Army Ferdinand – are also in the squad that will seek to wtite a new chapter for Nigerian volleyball on the continental terrain, as they seek honours in the championship that got underway on Monday.
