Iyed Belwafi scored twice as CS Sfaxien defeated Nigeria’s Shooting Stars 2-0 in the second leg of their CAF Confederation Cup first preliminary round tie in Sfax on Sunday.
The Tunisian side overturned a 1-0 deficit from the first leg to progress to the second preliminary round with a 2-1 aggregate victory.
Belwafi opened the scoring four minutes before the half-hour mark, putting CS Sfaxien ahead on the night and level on aggregate.

The striker completed his brace in the 67th minute to give the hosts a 2-0 lead and put them firmly in control of the tie.
Shooting Stars fought hard to get back into the contest but were unable to find a way past the CS Sfaxien defence.
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s other representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup, El-Kanemi Warriors, also secured their place in the next round after a 3-1 aggregate victory over Guinea-Bissau side UDIB.
El-Kanemi Warriors will face Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca in the next round, with a place in the competition’s group stage at stake.
