The reigning Super Bowl champions commemorated their victory with a banner raising to open the season.
Opening Night of the NFL season saw the Seattle Seahawks host the New England Patriots in a re-match of their Super Bowl LX faceoff just seven months ago.
In that matchup, the Seattle defense smothered the Patriots to win the franchise’s second title in their fourth Super Bowl appearance.
As fans crammed in to Lumen Field, Seahawks legend Kam Chancellor led a chant before the curtain dropped revealing a banner that proudly read: ‘2025 World Champions’ and displayed the Super Bowl LX logo.
Seahawks fans, known as ‘The 12s,’ took particular pride in the win as it was a revenge result from their defeat in Super Bowl XLIX.
Seattle benefitted from a strong game by running back Kenneth Walker III, who now plies his trade with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Seattle coach Mike Macdonald received plenty of praise for his defensive play calling
Walker ran roughshod over New England’s defense – carrying the ball 27 times for 135 yards on a night where the kickers of both teams did plenty of work.
But the Seahawks defense also managed two picks off Patriots quarterback Drake Maye to set the tone and led to the win.
The win was a crowning achievement for Seattle coach Mike Macdonald, who became the third-youngest coach to win a Super Bowl at the age of 38.
Macdonald led the defensive play calling on the night and received universal praise for his acumen against Mike Vrabel.
This year, the team will deal with losses from the roster – including Walker and defensive stars Riq Woolen and Coby Bryant.
