Arsenal have been told that Bayer Leverkusen’s Christian Kofane is ‘predestined for the Premier League’ – despite the fact that he is set to sign a new contract with the Bundesliga giants.
Kofane, 20, has enjoyed an express rise at the Bundesliga club after arriving in a €5.3 million transfer from Albacete a year ago.
Five goals and four assists in 29 Bundesliga appearances for Leverkusen (only 12 of them starts) have seen the young attacker earmarked as a superstar of the future by some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs, with Arsenal taking a particularly close interest in him.

Leverkusen are rushing to tie Kofane down to an improved contract, though the thinking behind their decision is about maximising the player’s value rather than holding him at the club beyond the summer of 2027, according to a report from Kicker.
The Cameroon international forward’s trajectory towards the Premier League is thought to be unstoppable, with the fast and physical striker particularly attractive due to his smart link-up play and overall profile.
Arsenal are said to be “impressed” by the striker, who Leverkusen believe could be a goldmine for them. Kicker reports that they consider him to be a “player who could command a transfer fee exceeding €100m”.
Already in the summer, the player’s agent suggested a massive bid was in the works.
With two goals in three games already this season, he appears to be living up to this billing.

Bundesliga expert Ronan Murphy has been left impressed with the impact that Kofane has had in Germany over the course of a year, telling FootballTransfers:
“Christian Kofane has always been a prodigious talent. When he arrived in Europe to play for Albacete, the club were surprised by how quick he adapted to their passing game and interplay. He credits this to his time with Cameroonian side AS Nylon whose tiki-taka approach prepared him for the fast-paced passing of Spanish football.
“But what stood out even more was his goalscoring ability and although Albacete had planned with him in their youth team, he was too good not to play with the senior side. Bayer Leverkusen noticed this too and a year later, snapped him up, where he went on to become their youngest-ever Champions League scorer.
“Other teams are now starting to notice his massive potential, with Arsenal impressed by his games against them last season. Simon Rolfes wants to keep him at Leverkusen for the foreseeable future, so it would take a huge fee for anyone to prise him away.”
Arsenal a strong choice – but watch out for Man Utd
Arsenal would be a strong fit for Kofane, according to the Career Advice tool of data analytics firm SciSports, which measures transfer suitability on a wide range of factors, including potential development, game time, playing style and formation.
The biggest impediment to Kofane succeeding at the Emirates Stadium would be a potential lack of playing opportunities. The Gunners score only one star in this regard, though Mikel Arteta could make more room for him by selling Viktor Gyokeres or Kai Havertz, with the Swede subject to transfer rumours for much of the summer window.
Other Premier League clubs such as Fulham and Everton would offer him the potential of more game time.
Arsenal should also be wary of potential interest from Manchester United, who are the best-rated Premier League side with a Club Fit score of 77. The Old Trafford side score more highly in terms of player development and game time, but less impressively on playing style and formation.
In any case, the battle lines are drawn for Kofane and the situation is expected to develop significantly over the course of the next year.
