President of the Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF), Uyi Akpata, has praised the Nigeria Junior Female Yellow Greens following their outstanding campaign that secured the country a place at the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup, while announcing a full university scholarship for every member of the team.
The young Nigerian side produced an impressive run at the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier, maintaining an unbeaten record on their way to securing qualification for the global tournament.

Akpata described the achievement as a reflection of the players’ commitment, discipline and determination, while also emphasising the federation’s responsibility to ensure that their development continues beyond the cricket field.
As part of that commitment, the Nigeria Cricket Federation announced that every player in the successful squad will receive a full university scholarship.
The initiative is designed to ensure that the players do not have to choose between pursuing their sporting ambitions and securing their education.
“The commitment extends beyond immediate rewards. We want these players to continue excelling academically while developing as athletes.”
The federation’s decision represents a significant investment in the long-term development of the young cricketers, particularly following their breakthrough qualification for the U19 Women’s T20 World Cup.
Captain Christabel Chukwuonye played a key role in Nigeria’s successful campaign, leading the team through a series of impressive performances while demonstrating the discipline and adaptability that became hallmarks of their run.
