Eagles star taken off field in an ambulance and rushed to hospital after brutal hit on opening kickoff

Philadelphia Eagles running back Ja’Quinden Jackson was taken off the field in an ambulance after being injured on the opening kickoff in Saturday night’s preseason game against the New England Patriots.

The Eagles later announced that Jackson had strength and movement in all extremities and had been taken to a hospital for further evaluation.

Jackson was on the kickoff team and it was unclear if he was involved in a tackle but at the end of the play he laid motionless at the 25.

Trainers rushed in almost immediately as medical personnel from both teams attended to Jackson. They quickly called for a backboard and ambulance.

Players from both teams knelt near the sideline as he was strapped onto a stretcher. Eagles players then surrounded Jackson briefly before he was loaded into the ambulance.ย

Jackson could be seen briefly raising his left arm, before play resumed a few minutes later.

The 24-year-old only signed with the Philadelphia Eagles 12 days ago, after being waived by the Jacksonville Jaguars back in May.

He played college football at Texas initially, before entering the transfer portal and landing at Utah in 2021.

After three seasons there, he played his final year at Arkansas before going undrafted in the 2025 Draft.

He is yet to play a regular season NFL game after being cut by the Jags in last year’s preseason, before going on to sign a reserve/future contract with the team in January.ย
