Chelsea still struggling to sell squad player despite LOWERING valuation

Chelsea are still struggling to find a buyer for Nicolas Jackson despite lowering their asking price, according to reports in France.

RMC Sport understands Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur and Atletico Madrid have all expressed an interest in signing Jackson this summer.

However, the same outlet claims all three clubs have baulked at the €70million (£60m) valuation placed on the Senegal striker.

The news comes after BBC Sport reported in July that Chelsea were originally looking to receive €76m (£65m) to part ways with Jackson.

Jackson has returned to Stamford Bridge after spending last season on loan with Bayern Munich, scoring 11 goals in 34 games in Germany.

Bayern had the option to sign the 25-year-old on a permanent basis for €65m (£55.5m), provided he made 40 starts across the Bundesliga and the Champions League.

However, Jackson was always unlikely to reach that figure, given he was competing with Harry Kane for a place in the Bayern starting XI.

Jackson has produced solid numbers for Chelsea

Chelsea signed Jackson from La Liga outfit Villarreal for €37m (£32m) in June 2023, with the forward signing an eight-year deal with the club.

He registered 42 goal contributions (30 goals, 12 assists) in 80 appearances for the west London club before joining Bayern temporarily.

There remains speculation over Jackson’s future after he was not included in the squad for Chelsea’s pre-season clash with Real Sociedad on Saturday.

In addition to Jackson, Chelsea currently have strikers Joao Pedro, Danny Welbeck, Liam Delap, Emmanuel Emegha and Marc Guiu on the books.

Alonso gets first taste of Stamford Bridge in Sociedad victory

Xabi Alonso’s men rounded off their preparations for the 2026-27 season by beating the Spanish side 3-1 at Stamford Bridge.

A strike from Morgan Rogers and a brace from Pedro proved decisive for the Blues, who open up their Premier League campaign with a trip to Fulham on Monday, 24 August.

Chelsea have been busy in the summer transfer window, signing Rogers, Maxence Lacroix, Marco Palestra, Pep Chavarria, Valentin Barco, Welbeck and Jordan Henderson ahead of Alonso’s first season in charge.

Geovany Quenda, Emegha, Denner and Dastan Satpaev have also joined the Blues on deals that were negotiated before Alonso’s appointment in May.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have sold Andrey Santos, Marc Cucurella, Trevoh Chalobah and Tyrique George to Manchester United, Real Madrid, Como and Everton respectively this summer.

Goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, midfielder Satpaev and winger Alejandro Garnacho have also joined Strasbourg, Burnley and Aston Villa respectively on season-long loan deals.
