Celtic have learned Hajduk Split midfielder Niko Sigur is keen to join them this summer, according to the Daily Record.
Record Sport claims the 22-year-old has made Split aware of his desire to move to Scotland, with Celtic set to open talks over a move.
It is understood it would take a significant seven-figure sum to prize Sigur away from the Croatian side, however.
Celtic have money to spend in the transfer window after selling Arne Engels to West Ham United for an EFL-record €25.75million (£22m) on Saturday.
After spending time in Split’s youth system, Sigur made his senior debut for the club in a 2-0 win over Varazdin in April 2023.
Primarily a defensive midfielder who can also cover at right-back, Sigur has made 116 appearances for Split, scoring five goals.
Should Sigur join Celtic this summer, he would link up with Canada team-mate Alistair Johnston at Parkhead.
The pair helped Jesse Marsch’s side reach the World Cup knockout phase for the first time in the nation’s history this summer.
Canada then recorded their first World Cup knockout victory with a 1-0 win over South Africa in the round of 32, before losing to Morocco in the last 16.
Sigur has received 22 caps for Canada, scoring two goals.
New boys Hogh and Duran break their ducks for Celtic
Celtic have made four signings so far this summer, capturing Kasper Hogh, Camilo Duran, Haissem Hassan and Mika Baur.
Record signing Hogh scored a hat-trick in the 5-1 league win at Kilmarnock earlier this month, while Duran netted in Saturday’s 4-0 victory at Dundee United in the Scottish League Cup.
Winger Hassan and midfielder Baur also made their debuts at Tannadice, with Celtic having won their first three games in 2026-27 after also beating Dundee in their opening league fixture.
Martin O’Neill’s side are gearing up the first leg of their Champions League playoff tie against Austrian side LASK at Parkhead on Wednesday.
The Bhoys will then travel to St Johnstone in the league next Saturday before heading to LASK for the second leg of their European tie on Tuesday, 25 August.
Celtic missed out on a place in the league phase of Europe’s premier club competition last season after losing to FC Kairat in the playoff round.
The Scottish champions have until 11pm on Tuesday evening to register two new players in time for their game against LASK.
