Chief Tommy Nwampa produced a memorable individual performance as Sure B Homes defeated Cartel Beach 3-1 to claim third place at the Island All Stars Sports Club International Above-45 Football Tournament.
Nwampa was at the heart of Sure B Homes’ impressive display, contributing a goal and an assist as his team bounced back strongly to finish the competition on a positive note.

Speaking exclusively to Sports247 after the encounter, the experienced player expressed satisfaction with his performance while emphasising that his contribution went beyond his goal and assist.
“I did very well in the game. In as much as I scored one goal and had an assist, I still assisted the team in different aspects. Last week, we didn’t do very well but today’s game was okay,” Nwampa said.
The veteran also attributed the improved performance to the return of some key players who were unavailable during their previous match because of festivities.
“What happened last week was that some of my players weren’t around due to some festivities. But today, some of them were around, that is why we performed well.”
Sure B Homes took control early in the encounter, with Dennis converting a penalty in the 16th minute before Nwampa doubled the advantage with a well-taken header in the 27th minute.
Arthur added a third goal in the second half to put the result beyond doubt, although Cartel Beach managed a consolation through Jokesman, who produced a long-range effort before later leaving the pitch with an injury.
Nwampa’s influential display earned him the Man of the Match award, recognition he credited to his preparation and dedication.
“I will say glory be to God. I trained very well and prepared well for the match.”
The highlight of his performance was his goal, which bore similarities to Lionel Messi’s iconic Champions League final header against Manchester United.
Nwampa revealed that the first opportunity had gone begging, but he was determined not to waste the second.
“When the ball was coming, I think the ball came twice. I couldn’t score the first one but decided that I must score the second one—which I did.”
For Nwampa and Sure B Homes, the third-place victory provided a fitting conclusion to their tournament campaign. Age proved no barrier as Chief Tommy Nwampa rolled back the years, delivering goals, assists, and leadership when Sure B Homes needed him most.
