Manchester United are prioritising a move for Lewis Hall over other targets, with the left-back reportedly still keen on leaving Newcastle this summer and moving to Old Trafford.

Hall has emerged as United’s top target to strengthen at left-back despite the club being offered a chance to sign Myles Lewis-Skelly from Arsenal this week

United have also considered RB Leipzig defender David Raum as an option but Hall has been identified as the ideal long-term replacement for Hall ahead of other alternatives.

That is according to The Sun, who claim that Hall wants to make the move to United even with the arrival of new manager Matthias Jaissle.

However, Newcastle are under no pressure to sell after losing a number of key stars already this summer and the club have insisted they will not sell Hall at any cost.

Sources on Tyneside have also denied reports of Hall’s unhappiness and insist that talks will be held to extend the 21-year-old’s contract after the close of the transfer window.

Lewis Hall: Man Utd losing grip on ‘difficult’ transfer

Hall still has three years remaining on his contract at St James’ Park but there have been reports of the youngster being unsettled after missing out on a place in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the 2026 World Cup.

Previous manager Eddie Howe had dropped Hall for a number of games towards the end of last season, which is rumoured to have frustrated the defender and caused tension between the pair.

Howe eventually resigned last month which led to the arrival of Jaissle and the German coach is said to see Hall as a huge part of his plans going forward, particularly with Newcastle lacking depth at full-back currently.

Having sold the likes of Bruno Guimaraes, Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali this summer for more than €250 million combined, Newcastle are adamant that they will make no further sales against their will this summer and are focused on incomings.

Man Utd, meanwhile, have not made a formal approach for Hall after seeing verbal enquiries immediately dismissed by Newcastle and the Red Devils are aware that any deal for the left-back will be extremely difficult this summer.

While they will not give up hope on Hall, United are exploring other options such as Raum, Lewis-Skelly and Club Brugge youngster Joaquin Seys, who could be available for €30m.

Much will depend on the club’s pursuit of a midfielder and whether they can move on player such as Marcus Rashford before assessing how much they have to spend on a defender in the final weeks of the transfer window.
