Freddie Freeman’s wife Chelsea believed she might be suffering a heart attack as she faced a recent emergency trip to the hospital.
She suffered frightening symptoms while her husband was away playing with the Los Angeles Dodgers, prompting her to call 911 after waking up in the middle of the night with sharp pain in her back and chest.
Sharing details via her Instagram Stories, the mom-of-four revealed she feared the pain might be a heart attack.
‘It was really scary, especially since Freddie was out of town on the road,’ she wrote.
After being taken to hospital, her troponin levels were discovered by doctors to be elevated, leading to a series of extensive cardiac tests such as a heart CT, chest X-rays and an echocardiogram.
After meeting with her cardiologist, it is suspected pericarditis or myocarditis may have been the cause, with a further echocardiogram scheduled next week alongside ongoing heart monitoring although she is ‘thankfully feeling much better.’

She initially raised concerns over her health with a post from her hospital bed at the time, describing it as a ‘little health scare’ and thanking those who took care of her.
The Freeman family has faced difficult health struggles in recent years, with their son, Maximus, spending eight days in pediatric intensive care in 2024 after developing Guillain-Barre syndrome.
At the end of that season, Freeman hit his most famous home run, a walk-off grand slam in Game 1 of the World Series before clinching a championship win over the New York Yankees.
‘There was a point, like, if Max didn’t get better, I don’t know if Freddie would have gone back to playing,’ Chelsea Freeman later told USA Today. ‘So Max getting better in itself is a miracle and then for Freddie to be able to finish the way that he did … I feel like we needed that.’

He said: ‘I met Chelsea during spring training of 2011. I was 21, she was 19,’ he recalled. ‘All the success, all the failures, she’s experienced every single thing with me.
‘Family is everything to me. I’m very blessed to have Chelsea and the kind of mom she is, what kind of wife she is, where I can focus on baseball.’
