Manchester United have lowered their demands for Joshua Zirkzee after reintegrating Marcus Rashford into their squad, according to reports in Italy.

Gazzetta dello Sport understands the Red Devils are now prepared to allow Zirkzee to join Juventus on a season-long loan with an option to buy.

The same outlet previously reported United would only sanction a loan move provided a conditional obligation to buy clause was included in a prospective deal.

Netherlands striker Zirkzee has reportedly approved a move to Juventus after slipping down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

The 25-year-old joined United from Italian outfit Bologna for €42.5million (£35.8m) in July 2024, signing a five-year contract with the club.

However, he has struggled to impress when given a rare opportunity to shine, scoring just nine goals in 75 appearances.

United reportedly offer Rashford new shirt number

The news comes after United signalled their intent to keep hold of England star Rashford by offering him a new shirt number, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Transfer insider Romano claims Michael Carrick’s side have given Rashford the No. 14 jersey ahead of the 2026-27 Premier League season.

Speculation has been rife regarding Rashford’s future at United, with the winger having spent the last season-and-a-half on loan at Aston Villa and Barcelona respectively.

The 28-year-old spent the remainder of the 2024-25 season on loan at Villa before joining Barcelona for the entire 2025-26 campaign.

Rashford had publicly expressed his desire to stay at Barcelona after helping the club retain their La Liga title last term.

However, Hansi Flick’s side decided against triggering a €30m (£26m) option to sign Rashford on a permanent basis.

Rashford has now joined up with the United squad as they continue their pre-season preparations ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

Carrick’s men will take on Leeds United at Dublin’s Croke Park on Wednesday before locking horns with AC Milan in Poland on Saturday.

United have so far signed Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans and Karl Darlow ahead of Carrick’s first full season in charge.

Carrick was handed the United job on a permanent basis in May after a fantastic spell as interim manager last season.

He replaced Ruben Amorim in January and inspired the club to a third-place Premier League finish – and subsequent qualification for the UEFA Champions League – in 2025-26.
