Inter Milan step up pursuit of Spurs star Djed Spence as Italian giants offer £25m for England defender

Inter Milan are continuing their pursuit of Tottenham full back Djed Spence.

As Daily Mail Sport reported, the Italian side first made contact in June and are trying to work out a compromise fee for the England international.

Inter are offering £25million, only £5m more than the original package given to Middlesbrough when Tottenham signed Spence back in 2022. Spurs were originally looking for closer to £36m.

Spence, who started four games for England at the World Cup, including the semi-final against Argentina, has fallen further down the pecking order at Spurs after the arrival of Andy Robertson from Liverpool.

He signed a new four-year contract in north London at the start of last season but is believed to be keen on joining the Italian champions, with Destiny Udogie and Pedro Porro expected to be Roberto De Zerbi’s preferred full backs this season.

One big plus for Spence though is he is able to play on either side, with many of his Spurs and England minutes coming at left back despite naturally being right-sided.

Inter Milan are willing to pay £25million to sign Djed Spence from Tottenham this summer

He could yet stay in north London but would not be first choice and may be keen for more minutes after his stock rose at the World Cup.

Tottenham, meanwhile, could be as keen to cash in when his value is potentially at its highest.
