Brooks Koepka branded his return to the PGA Tour ‘pathetic’ after failing to reach the FedEx Cup playoffs.
The former world No 1 offered a brutal assessment of his game, revealing he has ‘zero confidence… can’t putt’ and needs to ‘completely reevaluate everything.’
Back in 2022, the five-time major champion became one of the most high-profile defectors to the Saudi-backed breakaway, signing a deal reportedly worth more than $100million.
Koepka returned to the PGA Tour in January but his comeback has not gone to plan. After a final-round 70 at the Wyndham Championship, the 36-year-old is projected to finish 94th in the FedEx Cup standings.
Only the top 70 players will battle it out in the first leg of the playoffs – the FedEx St Jude Championship next week – and Koepka was scathing of his own performance.
‘I’m pretty disappointed,’ Koepka said, per ESPN. ‘I think it’s pretty pathetic that I can’t get through. Zero top-10s basically in two years.

‘To be in the prime of your career and be as good as I think I am, I think that’s very pathetic, disappointing. Just need to go home and completely reevaluate everything.’
Across 15 starts this season, Koepka missed five cuts and secured only one top-10 finish at the Cognizant Classic.
Putting was Koepka’s downfall once more at the Wyndham Championship and he added: ‘It’s just all on the greens. I don’t know what the deal is.
‘[I’ve] got zero confidence [and] can’t putt. I don’t know. There’s going to be a lot of changes here soon.’
Despite his struggles, the 36-year-old insisted it has been ‘great’ to be back on the PGA Tour. ‘I’ve loved it. I feel fantastic. The reception has been great. Overall, happiness is 10 out of 10 and just excited,’ he said.
Without Koepka, LIV Golf has been at Donald Trump’s Bedminster course this week, with the president on hand to support the struggling rebel tour.
On Sunday, Trump was joined by legendary golfer Gary Player as they watched the action.
Earlier this year, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund announced it would stop bankrolling LIV Golf. CEO Scott O’Neil said this week that LIV has secured funding to keep the circuit afloat beyond the 2026 season but further details – including who is investing and how much they will pump into LIV – remain unclear.
