Chairman of Federal Character Commission (FCC), Honourable (Alhaja) Ayo Omidiran has revealed memories of the wonderful days she had and experienced as an undergraduate of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Kaduna State, then assured the institition of her continued loyalty.
Sports247 reports that the former House of Representatives member and proprietor of Omidiran Babes FC, went on to pledge total support for the university’s preparations towards hosting the Nigeria University Games (NUGA) and its plan to establish a National Centre of Excellence in Sports.
While describing both initiatives as strategic investments in development of youths and promoting national progress, Omidiran also told the institution’s vice-chancellor, Professor Adamu Ahmed, that ABU’s emergence as host of the 2028 NUGA Games is a commendable achievement.
She added, while hosting the VC and members of the university’s board during a courtesy visit to her office in Abuja, that she supports their request for collaboration as a designated National Centre of Excellence in Sports, which she believes will present valuable opportunities to nurture talents.
While acknowledging it as another platform to strengthen Nigeria’s sports ecosystem, Omidiran further accepted the university’s invitation to participate in its 64th anniversary celebration scheduled for October 4, noting that ABU played a crucial role in shaping her advent into politics.
“I remain immensely proud to be an alumna of Ahmadu Bello University. The university shaped my character, broadened my perspective and prepared me for the responsibilities of leadership and national service.
“I will always cherish the institution and remain committed to supporting initiatives that promote education, national development, and youth empowerment,” the ever-amiable Omidiran submitted.
