Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Honourable Mobolaji Ogunlende, has expressed delight with the impact being created by the annual RAK League organised by Badagry Divisional Football Association (BDFA), Sports247 reports.
Ogunlende disclosed as much in the wake of the official draw ceremony for this year’s edition of the community development competition, which BDFA is again staging in collaboration with Real Act of Kindness (RAK) Development Foundation for the sixth-year running.
Ogunlende, who is the competition’s convener, expressed optimism that there will be an even bigger impact from the 2026 RAK League, which is regarded as Badagry Division’s most prestigious football competition, featuring both male and female categories.
A media statement by the organisers pointed out that RAK League continues to serve as a platform for discovering talents, promoting unity, encouraging healthy competition and creating opportunities for aspiring footballers to showcase their abilities for bigger clubs and scouts.
The statement added, “Over the years, the RAK League has evolved into a symbol of hope for young people across the division, using sports as a tool for youth engagement, social inclusion and community development.
“At the heart of this remarkable initiative is the Chief Host and Convener, Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende, the Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development. Widely recognized for his passion for youth empowerment, innovation and community-driven development.
“Honourable Ogunlende has championed initiatives that provide young people with opportunities to excel. His support for sports development continues to inspire confidence that football remains a powerful vehicle for leadership, discipline, economic empowerment, and social transformation.”
The commissioner also personally took to social media to reveal his thoughts about the competition’s draw ceremony that took place on Wednesday at the secretariat of BDFA, where the presence of several political, traditional, football, social and entertainment personalities added relevance to the occasion.
Ogunlende stated in a post on Facebook, “I was delighted to attend the annual press conference to officially kick off activities for the 6th RAK League, hosted by the RAK Development Foundation in collaboration with the Badagry Divisional Football Association.
“The RAK League remains a testament to our unwavering annual commitment to discovering, nurturing, and showcasing young male and female sporting talents, providing them with opportunities to compete, excel, and gain global exposure through sports.
“Appreciation to our dedicated team, the Local Government Chairmen, the Badagry Divisional Football Association, and all our valued stakeholders for their continued support in making this vision a reality.
“I also use this opportunity to call on well-meaning individuals, corporate organizations, and development partners to join us in this impactful initiative as we continue to empower young people and build a brighter future through sports.”
