The United Nations said on Monday that more than 150 Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip during July, the highest monthly death toll recorded since the start of the year.
Speaking at a press conference at the UN headquarters in New York, UN Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq said Israel continued air strikes, artillery shelling and gunfire across Gaza over the weekend, killing civilians, including children.
Citing figures from the Palestinian Health Ministry, Haq said more than 150 deaths were recorded during July. He added that most of the attacks took place in the western part of the Gaza Strip, where most of the territory’s estimated 2.1 million residents are concentrated.
He said an Israeli air strike damaged a medical supplies warehouse near Al-Aqsa Hospital.
Haq added that the World Health Organization reported minor damage to the hospital building and the destruction of vital medical supplies, including shipments recently delivered by the agency.

He reiterated that healthcare facilities must be protected, warning that funding shortages are worsening the lack of essential medical supplies in Gaza.
“More supplies required to prevent and control infections are pending Israeli approval to bring into Gaza,” the UN Deputy Spokesperson said.
Israel has continued what Palestinian authorities describe as daily violations of the ceasefire agreement, which has been in force since 10 October 2025. As of Monday, the reported violations had killed 1,250 Palestinians and injured 4,110 others.
The ceasefire was reached after two years of war in Gaza, which Palestinian officials describe as genocide. The war began on 8 October 2023 and has left more than 73,000 Palestinians dead and over 174,000 injured, most of them women and children, while destroying 90 per cent of the territory’s infrastructure.
