Liverpool consider move for 18-year-old PSG winger Ibrahim Mbaye – as well as his team-mate Bradley Barcola

Liverpool are assessing whether to make an approach for PSG winger Ibrahim Mbaye – as well as his teammate Bradley Barcola.

Mbaye is an 18-year-old right winger who starred for Senegal at the World Cup.

Liverpool have been among the clubs made aware of the teenager’s availability earlier in the window, but Manchester City and Tottenham were understood to have shown greater interest.

However, it is Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen who have been making the greater progress.

Now with concerns about the squad’s capability and lack of goal-power, Liverpool are considering an approach for both PSG flyers.

Mbaye would at least be a more natural fit to replace Mo Salah who left Anfield and is closing on a move to Trabzonspor while Barcola prefers the left.

Much will depend on the asking price as PSG would likely ask for over £150m.

The situation is expected to become clearer in the coming days as the clubs maintain dialogue.

Mbaye is represented by agent Jorge Mendes.

The 6ft 1in winger has been at PSG since 2018 and made 33 appearances for the senior side, scoring four times.

He represented France at youth level before pledging his international allegiance to Senegal in 2025.

Mbaye was a bright light for his country at the World Cup in the US and became the youngest African scorer in tournament history when he netted a consolation against France.

Liverpool are looking to bolster their attacking ranks, though Cody Gakpo has emerged as a target for Tottenham.

But the club have no plans to sell the Dutch international Gakpo despite the north London side making their interest known.

Gakpo, 27, is contracted until 2030 and with current market prices escalating for players of his experience, it would take a huge sum to change Liverpool’s stance.

The Dutchman had a weaker season than usual last time out, scoring only nine goals, but is highly valued by Liverpool all the same. His best season, 2024-25, saw him bang in 18 goals.
