Israel-Lebanon talks have begun in Rome, US state department says

The latest round of US-mediated talks between Israel and Lebanon have begun on Tuesday in Rome and will continue through Thursday, according to US State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott.

The discussions will aim to “advance full implementation of the Trilateral Framework, including the pilot zone process, verified disarmament of Hezballah and other Iran-backed security threats, redeployment of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon, and laying the ground for a comprehensive peace and security agreement,” Pigott wrote in a post on X.
