Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) will honour and celebrate its legends on home matchdays when the 2026/2027 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season kicks off next month, August, Completesports.com reports.
3SC Partners Pillar of Sports Foundation to Celebrate Club Icons
In a landmark move to preserve the club’s rich heritage, the management of Shooting Stars Sports Club has approved a proposal by the Pillar of Sports and Youth Development Foundation to institute a special recognition programme aimed at celebrating 3SC legends and former players during selected Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) home matches.
The initiative, championed by the Founder and Chairman of the Pillar of Sports and Youth Development Foundation, Mr Temitope Ademola Obideyi, is designed to honour retired 3SC players who proudly represented the Oluyole Warriors between 1980 and 1990, making invaluable contributions to the club’s success while creating unforgettable memories for generations of supporters.
Obideyi described the programme as his heartfelt effort to celebrate the heroes who laid the foundation for the club’s illustrious history.

“Football legends deserve to be recognised and appreciated while they are still alive. Their sacrifices and achievements should continue to inspire today’s players and future generations,” Obideyi said.
Legends to Receive Special Recognition on Matchdays
Two former 3SC legends will be specially invited to selected home fixtures, where they will be honoured during the half-time break. Each recipient will receive a customised Shooting Stars home jersey, a cash award of ₦50,000, and a specially packaged appreciation gift, courtesy of the Pillar of Sports and Youth Development Foundation.
Obideyi’s initiative received the approval of the club’s Executive Chairman, Hon. Taiwo Lekan Salami, who applauded the programme as a “thoughtful” and “timely gesture”, describing it as an excellent way to honour the club’s icons, revive cherished memories, and acknowledge the immense sacrifices of players who elevated the image of Shooting Stars Sports Club, Oyo State and Nigeria on both the domestic and continental stages.
Foundation Seeks to Preserve Club Heritage
“The approval further reflects a shared commitment between the club and the Foundation towards preserving football history, celebrating excellence, and ensuring that the contributions of the pioneers who built the legacy of Shooting Stars Sports Club are never forgotten,” Obideyi stated.
“Through this initiative, the Foundation hopes to rekindle the culture of honouring sporting heroes while inspiring the next generation to emulate the dedication, discipline, and passion that defined the club’s golden era.”
