Fabrizio Romano has addressed the latest rumours linking Liverpool with PSG winger Bradley Barcola.

The France international has been put at the top of the Anfield club’s shopping list as they search for a replacement for Mohamed Salah, although they have been told they will have to spend €170 million in order to secure the 23-year-old

While a report from L’Equipe has indicated that personal terms have already been agreed between Barcola and Liverpool, Romano denies that this is the case – but he has said that such an agreement is a matter of time.

Barcola to Liverpool: How close is a deal?

Romano’s understanding of the situation is that it could take time for everything to be put into place for a massive transfer.

“Now suddenly people are saying the agreement on personal terms is done,” he said. “Not yet. It will get done because I don’t think that will be a problem. Barcola wants to go to Liverpool, but we have to go step by step.

“They are still discussing personal terms, but I don’t expect that to be an issue. Barcola wants Liverpool.

“People are also saying Liverpool are preparing an official bid. Of course they are. If you want to sign a player you eventually have to submit an official offer. I can guarantee the bid was not sent yesterday and it will not be sent today. It is going to take a few more days.”

Romano added that the quoted €170m asking price for Barcola is simply not realistic as a transfer figure.

“The relationship between Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain is very good, but then there is the financial aspect,” he said.

“PSG are talking about €170m. It will not be a €170m transfer fee, but it will still be a very big amount of money.

“The two clubs are already in contact and discussing the structure of the official bid. I have no doubt Liverpool will bid soon, but the conversations are already ongoing.”

Rayan key to Barcola’s future?

Bournemouth winger Rayan could be the kingmaker in the deal. Liverpool see the Brazilian as the dream alternative to Barcola, yet The Sun indicates that PSG are eyeing the 19-year-old as a potential replacement for the Frenchman if he goes to Anfield.

The two-time Champions League winners have missed out on Yan Diomande to Real Madrid, and would need to guarantee a replacement for their winger if he were to leave.

PSG have a strong relationship with Bournemouth, giving them an advantage for Rayan, who has a release clause of €100m that will come into effect next summer. Luis Enrique’s side, however, need to wrap up this deal immediately if Barcola is to leave.
