FootballTransfers runs through the latest Manchester United transfer news, rumours and gossip, including updates on Lewis Hall, Danilo and Aurelien Tchouameni.
Romano gives midfield update
Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Botafogo star Danilo has been offered to Manchester United, while he also gave an update on the club’s other midfield targets.
“Danilo has been offered to Manchester United and proposed as a possible midfield option,” Romano said. “At the moment, however, the deal is not progressing because United have different priorities in midfield.
“It’s important to distinguish between the players being linked with Manchester United. Danilo is a player who has been offered to the club. This is not a negotiation initiated by Manchester United.
“Manu Kone is different. Manchester United have spoken directly with the player’s agents and have held concrete conversations over a possible move. However, they have not yet contacted Roma because they are still deciding which type of defensive midfielder they want to sign. So there have been no club-to-club negotiations and no official bid.
“Carlos Baleba is a player who would be very keen on joining Manchester United. He already wanted the move a year ago, but now it is up to Manchester United to decide whether they want to reopen discussions with Brighton.”
Man Utd get Lewis Hall hope
United are still keen on signing Lewis Hall if the Newcastle star becomes available this summer, with the Red Devils hoping to add a left-back to their squad before the end of the summer.
Hall has been touted for a transfer this summer after missing out on a place in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the 2026 World Cup but Newcastle have no desire to cash in on their star defender.
However, The National News claim that United ‘wouldn’t target players if they didn’t think they didn’t want to move to Old Trafford’, suggesting that there is still optimism on a deal for Hall.
Although, United’s priority is still to sign a midfielder and they will only pursue a left-back if there are funds left over, with Marcus Rashford’s future still proving to be pivotal to their budget.
Tchouameni open to United move
The same report also gave an update on the pursuit of Aurelien Tchouameni, who could be allowed to leave Real Madrid this summer.
Tchouameni has been United’s dream target in midfield but Madrid had so far been resistant to selling the Frenchman, leading to the Red Devils moving for Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos.
However, with Madrid closing in on the signing of Yan Diomande, the Spanish giants are open to making a big sale to fund further moves, giving United another chance to sign Tchouameni.
Tchouameni is said to be very happy at Madrid but would be open to joining United if he was told he was not needed by the La Liga side, although the player’s transfer fee and wages would likely prove a stumbling block.
Vitek wanted by Middlesbrough
Middlesbrough are interested in signing goalkeeper Radek Vitek from Manchester United, according to TeesideLive.
Vitek spent last season on loan at Bristol City and has confirmed he is hoping to join a new club this summer where he can be a first-choice goalkeeper.
Boro are believed to have held talks over a permanent or loan transfer but nothing is thought to have progressed at this stage, with the 22-year-old having much interest in him.
Vitek is also believed to be one of many targets for Boro, having played 45 minutes in both of United’s friendlies so far, keeping clean sheets against Wrexham and Rosenborg.
