All the latest Arsenal transfer news in one place, including updates on Vinicius Jr, Bruno Guimaraes and Julian Alvarez.
Arteta wants Vini Jr
Arsenal are exploring a sensational deal for Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Jr, The Athletic reports.
The Gunners are looking to be opportunistic amid the Brazil international’s ongoing contract stalemate. Although Vinicius and Real Madrid have insisted that they are keen to continue beyond 2027, there has been next to no progress for over a year.
The 26-year-old could be made available for transfer if no agreement is reached this summer, which has attracted the attention of Arsenal. There are no club-to-club talks yet, but the pursuit of Vinicius has been approved at “all levels” of Arsenal.
Howe’s Guimaraes admission
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has admitted that he can’t guarantee that Arsenal target Bruno Guimaraes stays this summer.
The midfielder has been the subject of a verbal bid from the Gunners, with a more formal offer expected shortly. Arsenal are reportedly preparing to offer €82 million, though this may not be enough to get Newcastle to sell.
Nevertheless, Arsenal are confident of eventually striking a deal for Guimaraes, despite Newcastle potentially demanding as much as €100m. “I’ve spoken to Bruno before, during and after the World Cup,” Howe said. “We have had some really good conversations. He’s just a fantastic person.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen with his future, that’s for other people to speculate about. There’s conversations I’m not part of. I don’t think it’s fair to compare [it with the Alexander Isak saga]. You’ve got to look at it in its own right.
“He’s captain of our club and been an unbelievable player, through the whole time we have worked together. I speak on behalf of everyone at the club, we absolutely love him and of course everyone would love him to stay.”
Alvarez confidence
Arsenal are confident of striking a deal for Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, TEAMtalk claims.
The Gunners have “positioned themselves to act immediately” should the Argentine forward indicate a willingness to move to North London, which has not happened to date because of his preference to remain in Spain.
Arsenal believe that they have the financial muscle to reach an agreement with Atletico Madrid, who are believed to want a fee in the region of €150m. However, the Spanish giants could be willing to compromise if it means Alvarez does not join a LaLiga rival.
Watkins monitored
An alternative striker target for Arsenal could be Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers, as per The Sun.
The 30-year-old has two years left on his current deal and has been the subject of strong interest from Fenerbahce. His uncertain future has now also attracted the attention of Arsenal and Man Utd.
Both clubs previously explored a deal for the England striker. Villa reportedly want a fee north of €35m, which is why Fenerbahce have so far refrained from making an offer. They planned to bid but were discouraged by Villa’s asking price.
