Sudan’s Defence Minister Hassan Daoud Kabroun said on Thursday that the Sudanese Armed Forces had made what he described as “field gains” in the states of Kordofan, Blue Nile, and Darfur, and had inflicted “heavy losses” on the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
In a statement, Kabroun said military operations would continue “until the militia (Rapid Support Forces) is eliminated and the entire homeland is secured.”
He added that the armed forces were continuing their operations with confidence, citing the determination of military personnel, public support, and what he described as the legitimacy of their mission.
Kabroun also claimed that the RSF was at “its weakest point,” arguing that reports of looting and theft in parts of Kordofan and Darfur reflected the group’s declining position.

He expressed confidence that the Sudanese Armed Forces would achieve further advances in the coming months and said the military and the Sudanese people would mark Army Day on 14 August amid what he described as significant battlefield successes.
The RSF had not commented on the defence minister’s statements at the time of publication.
Fighting between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the RSF has intensified in recent months across the Darfur, Blue Nile, and Kordofan regions, including the states of North Kordofan, West Kordofan, and South Kordofan.
Sudan has been engulfed in conflict since April 2023, when tensions between the army and the RSF escalated into open warfare over disagreements surrounding the integration of the paramilitary force into the national military.
According to United Nations estimates, the conflict has killed tens of thousands of people and displaced approximately 13 million people internally and across Sudan’s borders.
