Team Nigeria got their campaign at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games off to a positive start, after beating Cayman Islands in the men’s 3×3 basketball on the first day of the competition on Friday.
The Nigerian team overcame Cayman Islands 21-17 victory in their first game at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, with Esosa Okundaye and Ikechukwu Nwamu making six points each, leading the buckets made for Nigeria.
Up next for Nigeria in the men’s 3×3 basketball is a clash with Australia schedule for 5.25pm (Nigerian time).

Clinton Opute kicked off Team Nigeria’s individual campaign at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, taking part in the men’s 200m individual medley.
But it was an opening campaign to forget for Opute, as he finished 6th in his heat in 2:15.40, missing out on qualification for the next round.
