Approximately 1,300 Israeli settlers, accompanied by Israeli forces, stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound early on Thursday, the Jerusalem Governorate reported.
The storming took place on Tisha B’Av, a holiday which commemorates the destruction of the two Jewish temples and the exile of Jewish people.
Israeli forces imposed tight restrictions Jerusalem’s Old City, preventing Palestinians from entering the mosque and restricting them from its surroundings.
