Iran says Hormuz remains closed, warns of ‘major military operation’

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said two tankers caught fire after explosions while attempting to pass through what it described as an unsafe route south of the Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement carried by Iranian media, the IRGC said the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed “as long as US hostile actions in the region continue”.

The statement also claimed that US equipment and military assets had been destroyed in the Muharraq and Riffa areas of Bahrain.

It added that the attacks on US military assets in Bahrain were intended to “pave the way for the upcoming major operation”.

The IRGC further claimed that drone attacks had destroyed US military equipment and facilities in Kuwait.
