Iran intensified its rhetoric against the United States on Monday, warning that countries providing military support to Washington could face consequences and threatening to disrupt navigation through the Strait of Hormuz if it is used to transport military equipment intended for use against Iran.
In a statement, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it would continue to defend Iran by relying on its own capabilities, adding that the country’s future would not depend on what it described as “the promises of enemies” but on “resistance, vigilance, and self-reliance.”
According to the statement, the IRGC also reaffirmed its determination to confront the United States, saying it would “teach the United States an unforgettable lesson” and prevent what it described as further acts of aggression against Iran.

Separately, an Iranian military spokesperson warned that any country using the Strait of Hormuz to transport weapons or military equipment intended for use against Iran “will face problems with freedom of passage through the strait”. The spokesperson also said some countries had aligned themselves with Iran’s adversaries.
The spokesperson added that achieving what was described as “complete deterrence” against the United States was necessary to prevent further military action resulting from what Iran considers US miscalculations.
In a separate statement issued at the end of last week, Mojtaba Khamenei said the collapse of negotiations between Tehran and Washington was the result of what he described as US violations of the agreement.
Khamenei also criticized the United States, saying that “the US president’s signature is worthless and cannot be trusted,” and pledged that “the Iranian people and the Resistance Front still have lessons to teach the American enemy that it will not forget.”
The United States has not responded publicly to the latest statements from Iranian officials.
