Updated Ballon d'Or betting: Sky Bet slashes Rodri's odds after Spain's World Cup victory

Spain star Rodri has seen his Ballon d’Or odds slashed by Sky Bet following his starring role in his country’s World Cup triumph.

Previously priced at 12/1, the defensive midfielder is now 9/2 to win football’s most prestigious individual award for a second time after captaining Spain to a 1-0 victory over Argentina in Sunday’s final at MetLife Stadium.

Rodri was instrumental throughout Spain’s successful campaign and was rewarded with the Golden Ball, presented to the tournament’s outstanding player.

His World Cup success also saw him join an exclusive club, becoming just the 11th player in football history to have won the FIFA World Cup, UEFA Champions League and Ballon d’Or.

Despite that remarkable achievement, Rodri is only fifth in Sky Bet’s latest Ballon d’Or market.Β

Harry Kane remains the 13/8 favourite after scoring 61 goals across all competitions for Bayern Munich, as well as netting six times at the World Cup.Β

Lamine Yamal is second at 9/4, while Lionel Messi (11/4) and Kylian Mbappe (7/2) complete the top four ahead of the Spaniard.

With the Ballon d’Or race still months from being decided, Rodri’s World Cup heroics have significantly strengthened his case, even if the bookmakers still believe there are four players more likely to lift the award.
