Mr. Olatunde Zacchaeus, a teacher who was among the victims of the abduction at a secondary school in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, has narrated how armed men eventually discovered his hiding place after spotting a student’s school uniform in the bush.
Speaking during an interview on Nigeria Info FM on Friday, 17 July, 2026, Zacchaeus said he had concealed himself under thick grass after fleeing the school during the attack. He explained that a female student later joined him despite his pleas for her to leave, as he feared her white-and-brown school uniform could reveal their location.ѕєє тнє ν!∂єσ нєяє
According to him, “When their commander was coming, he didn’t know I was human being. So he saw the white uniform of the student and wanted to go and take the student. When he got to the student, the student smiled and looked at the position I was. So their commander also looked at me.”
The teacher said the gunmen’s commander initially appeared unaware that he was hiding in the grass. However, after approaching the student and noticing where she was looking, the armed leader turned his attention toward Zacchaeus, exposing his hiding place.
