Spain have won the World Cup after they beat Argentina 1-0 thanks to Ferran Torres’ extra-time strike.
In a hugely tense encounter in New Jersey, Barcelona star Torres finally made the breakthrough in the 106th-minute when he fired home from Nico Williams’ header back across goal.
It was a deserved strike for Luis de la Fuente’s side who dominated the game against their scrappy Argentine opponents, whose hopes were severely hampered by Enzo Fernandez’s late red card in normal time.
Giuliano Simeone blasted over a last-gasp chance but Spain held on to win their second World Cup and ensure there would be no fairytale ending for Lionel Messi.
