Residents of Angwan Durun-Uwa community in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State woke up to shock and fear on Thursday morning, July 16, 2026, after a passerby discovered the decomposing body of a decapitated woman inside a sack at a local refuse dump.
According to reports, the discovery happened around 7 a.m. when someone noticed a strong bad smell coming from the dump site. A youth leader in Barkin Ladi, Danjuma Ibrahim, said he received a distress call at about 7 a.m. informing him that a beheaded woman’s body had been dumped there in a sack.ѕєє тнє ν!∂єσ нєяє
“I immediately alerted the police,” Ibrahim said. “The body was already decomposing, so it was hard to identify who she was.” The police quickly came to the scene, evacuated the body, and started investigations.
As of now, the identity of the woman is still unknown. Some residents believe she may have been killed during one of the bandit attacks common in the area. The Plateau State Police Command spokesperson, SP Alfred Alabo, could not be reached for comment at the time of reporting.
This sad incident has caused serious worry in the community. People are calling on security agencies to find those responsible and bring them to justice. Many are also asking families whose loved ones are missing to check with the police.
