The midfielder has told Spurs that he wants to leave the club in search of more game time this summer.
Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly rejected an offer from Newcastle United for Lucas Bergvall as the transfer race for the midfielder hots up. The 20-year-old is of interest to several clubs in the current window.
Nottingham Forest have been the most heavily linked, having had a £38million bid rejected by Spurs. Latest reports suggest that they were preparing a club-record £45 million offer .
However, it seems that they have been outbid by Newcastle. The Athletic reports that Eddie Howe’s side have made a £46million for the Swede, but that has been rejected by Tottenham.
Despite turning down the offer, it’s added that the club will consider a sale if they feel that the price is right. Spurs’ valuation is said to be closer to £50million.

The arrivals of both Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali for a combined £185million are likely to see the player fall further down the pecking order at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
It is understood that there has been no direct communication between Roberto De Zerbi and Bergvall over his future.
The midfielder has been away at the World Cup with Sweden, playing in all four of the nation’s games as they lost to France at the Round of 32 stage.
The youngster signed a new contract in April 2025, with his deal running until 2031. It puts Spurs in a strong position when negotiating a transfer fee with interested parties.
Following Tonali’s move to Spurs from Newcastle, Bergavall could be seen as a replacement for the Italian at St. James’ Park. They have missed out on a transfer for Switzerland international Johan Manzambi, who has completed a move to Aston Villa.
Like Newcastle, Forest are also on the lookout for a replacement, having lost a key midfielder early in the summer window. England international Elliot Anderson has moved from the City Ground to Manchester City for a £116million fee.
Bergvall made a total of 33 appearances in all competitions last season. He missed eight games between January and March due to an ankle injury.
