Pep Guardiola reportedly had a verbal agreement to take over as England head coach in 2024, before reversing his decision to remain at Man City.
According to the Athletic, Guardiola had been the Football Association’s first target when it sought an elite coach to succeed Gareth Southgate.
The FA reportedly reached an agreement with Guardiola, before the Spaniard opted to renew his contract with Man City.
Guardiola’s extended two-year contract at Man City was officially announced on November 21 in 2024, a month after Tuchel was confirmed as Three Lions’ boss.
