Harry Kane has become England’s most capped outfield player in history.
The 32-year-old started in his side’s World Cup semi-final monster clash against Argentina – his 121st outing for the Three Lions.

And his latest inclusion has seen him break Rooney’s record, which he set ten years ago.
Kane, who made his senior international debut in 2015, had been level with Rooney on 120 outings for England.
Rooney broke David Beckham’s record of 115 games for a non-goalkeeper against Slovakia in September 2016.
He would go on to pull on the England shirt on four more occasions before calling time on his career two years later.
Kane is already England’s all-time top scorer with 85 goals – six of which have come at the World Cup across the pond this summer.
And it was Rooney once again who had his record broken, with the Bayern Munich marksman doing so against Italy in March 2023 as he brought up his 54th goal.
The Tottenham academy graduate will now have his eyes set on becoming England’s most capped player of all time.
That record belongs to legendary goalkeeper Peter Shilton, who made 125 appearances between 1970-1990.

Rooney has already had one England broken by Kane this summer, with the former Leyton Orient loan star doing so during the World Cup warm-up clash against New Zealand.

After getting on the score sheet on US soil for the first time during the 1-0 triumph, Kane scored in a record-breaking 21 countries while on international duty.
He extended that record by firing in a penalty in the last-16 victory over co-hosts Mexico at the Azteca Stadium.
Kane also created World Cup history during England’s opening 4-2 win against Croatia in Group L – a game which saw him bag a brace.
His first from the penalty spot saw him pip Lionel Messi to score five World Cup spot-kicks, with the Argentina legend currently on four.
And after heading in against Panama in the final group game, Kane brought up his 11th goal across three World Cups – becoming England’s outright top scorer in the competition.
After banging in a double in the round of 32, before scoring against Mexico, Kane now boasts 73 goals for club and country across the 2025/26 season.

Incredibly, he has overtaken Cristiano Ronaldo – the highest goal scorer of all time – into second place in terms of best goalscoring seasons in the 21st century.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner, who scored three times for Portugal at the World Cup, fired in on 69 occasions during the 2011/12 term while on Real Madrid’s books.
But it’s Messi who sits top of the pile for most goals scored in one campaign since 2000.
He got himself on the score sheet on an eye-watering 82 occasions – with 73 of those goals coming during his time at Barcelona in the 2011/12 campaign.
Kane will now be hoping to help fire England into their first World Cup final since lifting the Jules Rimet trophy in 1966.
And should England win the World Cup, he wouldn’t only be a leading favourite to scoop the Ballon d’Or, but almost certainly be honoured with a knighthood.
