Aston Villa star Ezri Konsa has emerged as a potential target for Arsenal this summer amid concerns around William Saliba’s fitness
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Aston Villa star Ezri Konsa, as the club continues to wait for the latest on William Saliba’s fitness. The Gunners are expected to have a busy summer transfer window and have already gone into the market for reinforcements.
Former Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier has been signed on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract at Elland Road.
Club Brugge star Christos Tzolis has also emerged as a target for Arsenal, with the Gunners agreeing a £34million deal for the former Norwich City forward.
Now, it seems that the defence may be an area to address for Arsenal, with reports suggesting that Konsa may be a target.
The Daily Mail have reported that Arsenal are getting ready to submit an offer to the Europa League winners to try and sign Konsa this summer.
However, the report claims that Arsenal are Villa remain far apart on their valuation of the England international, who could yet sign a new deal to remain at Villa Park.
Konsa’s current deal with Villa expires in 2028 and the centre-back played a key role in helping the club win the Europa League last season as well as finish fourth in the Premier League to qualify for the Champions League.
The rumours about a potential move for Konsa come after Saliba handed Arsenal a major injury blow during the World Cup.
Saliba was substituted during France’s semi-final defeat to Spain with a suspected back injury, with reports suggesting that the 25-year-old could be forced to spend months on the sidelines.

Villa boss Unai Emery was asked about Konsa’s future last season, where he was quizzed about the possibility of the England international signing an extension.
“I don’t know. I don’t know exactly when his contract ends. You know better than me when is ending his contract,” Emery said last November when asked if Villa were looking to agree a new contract with Konsa.
“2028? You are his agent! The other players [who signed up], they were finishing sooner. 2028? That’s so long.”
Konsa is currently with the England squad at the World Cup and helped the Three Lions reach the semi-final, where he featured in the 2-1 defeat to Argentina.
