Crysencio Summerville is still a target for Manchester United, it has been claimed. However, any move for the West Ham star could hinge on whether Marcus Rashford leaves Old Trafford.
Dutch international Summerville has been in demand following West Ham’s relegation. His form at the World Cup brought attention from more quarters, with Roma also linked.
According to The Guardian, the former Leeds man could be allowed to leave for as little as £30million. That would represent a profit on the £25m the Hammers paid to sign him in August 2024 but is lower than some of the numbers being floated earlier in the window.
The Red Devils, who have former Hammers midfielder Michael Carrick in the dugout, are said to view Summerville as a natural replacement for Marcus Rashford. However, any move might first require them to get the England forward’s wages off the books.

Despite a successful loan last season, Barcelona opted against triggering the purchase option in Rashford’s deal and instead brought in his international team-mate Anthony Gordon. This means the 28-year-old is due to be reintegrated into the United setup as things stand, though the club are still believed to favour a sale.
The academy graduate, who has been on World Cup duty with England, has two years remaining on his current deal. However, his reported £17.5million-per-year salary represents a significant barrier for prospective buyers.
Summerville shone during a memorable World Cup campaign with Oranje before their penalty shoot-out defeat in the round of 32 at the hands of Morocco. The winger scored twice and contributed two assists across four appearances at this summer’s tournament, though he was unable to convert his spot-kick when Ronald Koeman’s side bowed out of the tournament.
He managed just five goals and two assists during a frustrating campaign in East London, as the Hammers endured their first season in English football’s second tier in 14 years. However, his form during the second half of the season was enough to earn him that World Cup call-up and attract the attention of top-flight suitors.
Mateus Fernandes has already departed the London Stadium this summer, with Manchester United also admirers of the 21-year-old. However, the Manchester club’s pursuit proved unsuccessful after Tottenham Hotspur completed an £85m deal.
Carrick’s side responded by completing the acquisitions of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, bolstering their midfield with top-flight experience. A move for Ederson appears to be off the table for now, though United reportedly haven’t ruled out returning to the negotiating table for the Atalanta star.
United now have clarity on Rashford’s return date following England’s World Cup semi-final defeat to Argentina. Thomas Tuchel’s side are set to face France in the third-place play-off on Saturday, meaning Rashford could be available a day sooner than originally anticipated.
