The Strait of Hormuz is open to all vessels and US military forces are “positioned and prepared” to ensure freedom of navigation, US Central Command said on Sunday.
The comment comes after days of US and Iranian forces exchanging fire, and Tehran stating that it had closed the vital waterway.
