Iran’s Foreign Ministry has accused the United States of breaking last month’s memorandum of understanding and violating international law through its latest attacks.
The ministry described US military action over the past 24 hours as a “flagrant violation” of the UN Charter.
It also said Washington had undermined Iranian arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz, disrupting international commercial shipping and worsening insecurity along the vital maritime route.
“Only 25 days have passed since the ceasefire agreement ending the war, yet the US government has violated nearly all aspects of that agreement by attacking Iran’s transportation infrastructure, commercial shipping, cargo vessels, and aviation facilities, committing what the statement describes as among the gravest war crimes,” it said in a statement.
Tehran also accused the US of using territory and facilities in Gulf countries to prepare attacks against Iran.
The ministry warned neighbouring states against allowing their land, airspace or infrastructure to support military operations targeting the country.
Iran said it did not want another war but warned that its armed forces would consider the source of any attack a legitimate target for defensive action.
