A furious Mauricio Pochettino smashed a container of water bottles in a fit of rage after watching his USA team concede their second goal against Belgium on Monday night.
The usually-calm Argentinian was left apoplectic on the sideline during the World Cup last 16 game in Seattle, after Charles De Ketelaere netted a second for his country.
The second Belgium goal came a barely-believable 61 seconds after Malik Tillman’s free-kick had given the US hope and leveled the game, once again silencing the packed Seattle Stadium.
Pochettino had just watched the crowd erupt at the equalizer and was understandably devastated to watch his team throw it away so quickly after scoring.
As the camera cut to him standing in front of his coaching staff in the dugout, he turned and swiped a right foot through the water bottle container, sending liquid flying into the air.
Alongside him, backup goalkeeper Matt Turner could be seen holding his hands to his head, also stunned at the manner in which the team had conceded.
A win over Belgium would guarantee the USA a spot in the quarterfinals of the World Cup, a result they haven’t achieved since 2002.
That would also be their joint-best result since the inaugural 1930 tournament, in which the Americans finished third overall.
