Football news expert Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on several major transfer stories, including the latest on Andrey Santos, Ederson and Radu Dragusin.
Radu Dragusin set to join Fiorentina
Tottenham have been extremely busy in the transfer market so far this summer and they have now reached an agreement to offload Radu Dragusin, as per Romano.
The transfer expert told his YouTube channel: “Radu Dragusin is leaving Tottenham Hotspur to join Fiorentina on loan with an obligation to buy for around €20 million.
“Fiorentina sporting director Fabio Paratici, formerly of Tottenham, helped make negotiations straightforward thanks to the excellent relationship between the two clubs.
“Dragusin is now set to return to Italy after joining Tottenham from Genoa a few years ago. The deal is complete, with his medical scheduled for next week.”
Sandro Tonali and Savinho to Spurs
Meanwhile, Spurs remain in talks over several additional incoming signings.
“Tottenham remain one of the busiest clubs in the transfer market,” Romano confirmed. “Sandro Tonali’s move is done, sealed and not in doubt.
“Many fans are asking why the transfer has not yet been announced, but there is no reason for concern. The contracts, medical, paperwork and every part of the agreement have been completed. The timing of the official announcement is entirely down to the club.
“Savinho also remains a target for Tottenham. As I have consistently reported, the club are still working on the deal. The timeline will depend on several factors, including Manchester City’s position and the transfer fee. Tottenham have not moved on from Savinho and continue to consider him an important target.
“After completing deals for Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Martin Dubravka, Roberto De Zerbi and his recruitment team remain extremely active in the market.”
Man Utd monitoring Andrey Santos
Manchester United want to sign another new central midfielder after finalising a deal for Ederson, and Andrey Santos is firmly on their radar.
Romano confirmed: “Man Utd continue to monitor Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos. He is not a new name on the club’s shortlist, as United have been tracking him for several months.
“During the past few days, Man Utd made fresh contact with the player’s representatives to better understand his current situation. At this stage, there has been no official approach to Chelsea and no formal negotiations between the clubs. The discussions have only taken place with the player’s camp.
“Chelsea do not consider Andrey Santos untouchable. If Man Utd, or any other club, submit a significant offer, Chelsea could allow him to leave this summer. A loan is not being considered, but a substantial permanent bid could open the door to a transfer.
“Man Utd also held discussions with the player’s representatives in February and March. At the time, the focus was on Bruno Guimarães, who shares the same agency as Andrey Santos, but Santos’ name was also discussed during those meetings. He remains a player to watch.”
Ederson transfer update
The aforementioned Ederson has not yet been announced as Man Utd’s first summer signing, but the deal is not in doubt, as per Romano.
“Many supporters have been asking about Ederson’s situation. Man Utd and Atalanta have already exchanged all the necessary documents and are fully prepared to complete the transfer,” Romano said.
“The reason the deal has not yet been officially announced is because Ederson still needs to complete the second stage of his medical. An initial assessment has already taken place, but Man Utd want additional checks carried out in England before giving final approval.
“The agreement between the clubs has already been reached and the transfer remains worth around €40-45 million. The famous ‘here we go’ remains fully confirmed because the player agreement, club agreement, documentation and medical process are all in place. The only remaining step is the completion of the second part of the medical before the contract is formally signed.”
Francisco Trincao close to Al Ahli move
Sporting CP winger Francisco Trincao has been heavily linked with a summer transfer and he is now on the verge of completing a move to Al Ahli.
“Francisco Trincao is now very close to joining Al Ahli,” Romano revealed. “Despite links with AC Milan, Man Utd and several Premier League clubs, Saudi Arabia is now his expected destination.
“Al Ahli allowed Riyad Mahrez to leave on a free transfer and have identified Trincao as his replacement. Negotiations are very advanced, with a transfer fee expected to be worth around €45-50 million.
“Trincao has already shown his willingness to make the move. It is a deal with strong Portuguese connections, as sporting director Rui Pedro Braz is Portuguese, Trincao is Portuguese and the player’s representatives are also Portuguese. Al Ahli first identified him as a target back in January, and talks are now progressing well.”
Atletico Madrid eye Morten Hjulmand and Kang-in Lee
Atletico Madrid are set to back Diego Simeone in the transfer market this summer, with Morten Hjulmand and Kang-in Lee both wanted by the Spanish giants.
“Atletico Madrid are preparing for another busy period in the transfer market. The club are closing in on a deal for Morten Hjulmand, although Premier League clubs continue to show interest,” Romano admitted.
“Atletico remain in control of negotiations and are now only around €5 million away from Sporting’s valuation. Personal terms have already been agreed with the player, leaving the Spanish club increasingly confident of completing the transfer.
“Kang-in Lee also remains a priority target for Atlético Madrid. The club already have an agreement in place with the player and are now working directly with Paris Saint-Germain to finalise the deal. Negotiations are progressing quickly and the transfer is now close to completion.”
Jurgen Klopp to become Germany head coach
Finally, Romano confirmed that Jurgen Klopp will become the new head coach of the Germany national team.
“Everything has now been confirmed after developments over the past few days,” he said.
“Following Julian Nagelsmann’s departure, the German Football Association moved quickly to secure Klopp. His contract with the Red Bull group included a release clause specifically allowing him to take charge of the Germany national team if the opportunity arose.
“Klopp informed the German Football Association over the past 24 hours that he wanted the job. Final details regarding his departure from the Red Bull group and the length of his contract will be completed in the coming days.
“Jurgen Klopp is set to begin a new chapter as Germany head coach following the national team’s disappointing World Cup campaign.”
