Mount Etna in Sicily is erupting, video footage of the mountain shows.
Footage shared on social media shows the active volcano on the east coast of the Italian island erupting, with plumes of thick black smoke billowing into the air.
Catania Airport has had to suspend flights due to safety fears. Ash reportedly started rising from Etna ar around 7:45am this morning and intensified just before 9am.
