Fletcher Beasley, a 21-year-old student from Australia, died during the June heatwave and he has been remembered by loved ones as “funny, loyal and curious”
A young man who tragically fell to his death from Victoria Embankment during the scorching June heatwave has been fondly remembered by his loved ones as “funny, loyal and curious”.
Fletcher Beasley, studying law and business at Queensland University of Technology, lost his life after plummeting from a height early on June 25. Reports indicate he had been spending the evening with his girlfriend and mates prior to the fatal incident.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed at the time: “Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 2.06am on Thursday, June 25, to Victoria Embankment, following reports of a man believed to have fallen from a height. Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the man in his 20s died at the scene.”
A London Ambulance Service representative stated: “We were called at 2.03am today (June 25) to reports of an injured person in Victoria Embankment. We sent an ambulance crew, paramedics in fast response cars, an advanced paramedic and an incident response officer.
“We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance. Despite the efforts to save his life, a man sadly died at the scene.”
In a heartfelt tribute, Fletcher’s mum and dad, Katrina and Matt Beasley, said: “Our adored son Fletcher was our much-loved brother, grandson, partner, friend and colleague, who is deeply loved and cherished by all who knew him.
“He was at the centre of our close and loving family with siblings Sam and Holly. He was our perfect boy. Fletcher shared a beautiful relationship with his long-term partner Angelina and made the most of life with the people that he loved.
“Funny, loyal, curious about the world, and always full of warmth, he lived a balanced life, playing sport, running, travelling and having fun.
“Fletcher was deeply generous, selfless and community minded. His family knows he would have wanted to help others in any way he could.”
Fletcher’s father has flown from their home in Australia to bring his son’s body home, while a London coroner has reportedly opened an inquest into Fletcher’s death.
A GoFundMe appeal has been established to create the Fletcher Beasley Fund, with the page explaining: “The fund will support the ongoing investigation into Fletcher’s death and support the Beasley family and close friends to help rebuild their lives and to bring Fletcher home.
“Just as Fletcher would have wanted to help and support others, this fund has been established to support Fletcher’s friends who were with him in London at the time.”
