Football news expert Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on several major transfer stories, including the latest on Eduardo Camavinga, Michael Olise and Sandro Tonali.
Sandro Tonali to Tottenham confirmed
Tottenham Hotspur have backed Roberto De Zerbi in the transfer market this summer and Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali will become their next signing, as confirmed by Romano.
The transfer expert told his YouTube channel: “Everything is now 100% confirmed regarding Sandro Tonali’s move to Tottenham.
“Today, Sandro Tonali will travel to London together with his agents for his medical and to sign his contract. Today is Sandro Tonali day at Tottenham.
“Yesterday, Mateus Fernandes travelled to London for his medical, and everything was completed successfully. Remember, Tottenham will invest £85 million in Mateus Fernandes, while today Sandro Tonali and his agents will be in London to complete a move worth a guaranteed £92.5 million, plus a further £7.5 million in add-ons. That takes the total package to £100 million. Sandro Tonali is in London, and here we go – 100% confirmed.”
Morten Hjulmand attracting major interest
Sporting CP midfielder Morten Hjulmand may also be on the move this summer, with Atletico Madrid among the clubs interested in securing his signature.
“One player I want to mention today is Morten Hjulmand,” Romano said.
“Morten Hjulmand of Sporting is one of the most highly-rated midfielders in Europe right now. Atletico Madrid are pushing hard to get a deal done with Sporting. They already have an agreement in principle with the player’s representatives, and Hjulmand himself is keen on a move to La Liga.
“There has also been interest from the Premier League and Serie A. However, Atletico Madrid are trying to move ahead of the competition and complete the deal. Work is ongoing, and Atletico could add another player to the squad after Alejandro Grimaldo, while negotiations also continue for Kang-in Lee from Paris Saint-Germain.”
Eduardo Camavinga wants to stay at Real Madrid
Eduardo Camavinga has been heavily linked with a Real Madrid exit in recent months and it’s claimed that Manchester City are eyeing a possible summer move. However, the Frenchman doesn’t want to leave the Bernabeu, as per Romano.
The transfer expert revealed: “We started the transfer window with stories about Manchester United. Then there were reports involving Juventus, followed by Inter, and now Manchester City. Let me clarify the situation.
“Eduardo Camavinga has made his intentions very clear to his agents. He wants to stay at Real Madrid. He wants to play for Real Madrid and be part of the squad next season. He has no intention of leaving after a disappointing campaign. He’s still very young and believes he can build a long-term career at Real Madrid.
“Camavinga feels he was also unlucky last season. He knows his performances were below the level expected at Real Madrid, but there were several difficult moments, including the red card in Munich, disappointing matches in La Liga, injuries, and missing the World Cup.
“He believes those circumstances all played a part. His priority is to stay, fight for his place, and convince Jose Mourinho. The reality, however, is that Real Madrid would be open to selling Camavinga if the right proposal arrived. The problem is that the player does not want to leave.
“So there are two possible outcomes. Either Camavinga stays, fights for his place, and tries to convince Mourinho, or Real Madrid eventually tell him to find a new club because they no longer see him in their plans.
“At this stage, that second scenario has not happened. Real Madrid have not told Camavinga that he must leave. So we’ll have to see what happens. As for Manchester City, I have no confirmation of any proposal or advanced negotiations.
“Manchester City are simply aware that Real Madrid could be open to selling Camavinga, and they are considering signing another midfielder. At the moment, though, everything depends on the player.
“We have around eight weeks remaining in the summer transfer window, so we’ll have to see whether Camavinga changes his mind and opens the door to a move or continues with his current intention of staying at Real Madrid.”
Real Madrid not in talks for Alessandro Bastoni
Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni has been tipped to depart San Siro this summer, but a move to Real Madrid remains unlikely as things stand.
Romano admitted: “Is it true that Real Madrid are signing Bastoni? Are they close to completing the deal? Is Bastoni their top defensive target?
“As I said two days ago, I can repeat the same information today. I know there are fresh rumours, but Real Madrid’s priority right now is to focus on player departures. They are not simply adding player after player.
“They have already completed several signings, so now they need exits. Raúl Asencio is one of the players who could leave, but at the moment he hopes to stay. It would need to be a very good proposal for anything to change, so that situation remains open depending on the offers that arrive.
“As for Alessandro Bastoni, the admiration is obvious because he is one of the best defenders in the world. However, at this moment there have been zero contacts, zero negotiations, and zero bids between Real Madrid and Inter.
“So nothing is happening between Bastoni and Real Madrid right now. If Real Madrid make a move, I’ll update you immediately. But as things stand, they have not approached Inter or the player. That’s the current situation.”
Michael Olise remains Florentino Pérez’s dream signing
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich superstar Michael Olise remains Real Madrid’s dream summer signing.
“There have been several reports from Germany, especially after Florentino Pérez and the Bayern president attended the same event. Some people noticed Florentino smiling and exchanging a few words with the Bayern president, but those were simply normal moments between two people,” Romano said.
“The reality is exactly what I’ve been telling you for a long time. Florentino Pérez’s obsession, and his favourite potential signing, remains Michael Olise.
“He is the player Florentino Pérez would love to bring to Real Madrid immediately. Bayern have no intention of selling him. They want to keep him and are working on offering him a new contract.
“That is Bayern’s position, but Real Madrid have never stopped thinking about Michael Olise. In Florentino Pérez’s mind, the true Galáctico signing has always been Olise, not any other player, not even Julián Álvarez. Olise has always been at the very top of the list.
“Now everything depends on what happens between Bayern and the player. Bayern continue to insist that they want him to stay, but I’ll keep you updated on every development.
“There is absolutely no doubt that Florentino Pérez considers Olise a superstar and a player he would love to bring to Real Madrid. But Bayern’s position must also be respected.”
Jurgen Klopp remains favourite for Germany job
Julian Nagelsmann has been tipped to be sacked by Germany after their World Cup exit to Paraguay and Romano has confirmed that Jurgen Klopp is the frontrunner to replace him.
“I told you 24 hours ago that Klopp is a serious candidate to become the next head coach of the German national team, and I stand by that information,” he said.
“Now the story is being reported everywhere, but my information remains the same. Jürgen Klopp would be open to accepting the role as Germany’s next head coach.
“If the German Football Association decide to dismiss Julian Nagelsmann – because Nagelsmann himself wants to stay – then Klopp would become the leading candidate to take charge of Germany for the Nations League, the European Championship, and the road to the 2030 World Cup.”
Newcastle complete deal for Bazoumana Toure
Finally, Romano confirmed Newcastle’s signing of Hoffenheim winger Bazoumana Toure.
“Bazoumana Touré, the 21-year-old Ivorian winger, is joining Newcastle United. The deal is done for £42 million,” he revealed.
“The transfer fee has been agreed, the player’s representatives have reached an agreement, and the clubs have completed the deal.
“Newcastle are bringing in an exciting young winger as they continue to reinvest the money received from the sales of Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali. Bazoumana Touré is the latest addition to their squad.”
