Enzo Fernandez faces an uncertain future at Chelsea, and his agent has fanned the flames of a potential transfer this summer.
Javier Pastore has confirmed that Enzo Fernandez wants to leave Chelsea. The Blues star has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid for some time as Jose Mourinho looks to bolster his options in the middle of the park, but they’re yet to submit a bid.
football.london understands that Los Blancos are interested in signing Fernandez, whom Chelsea signed from Benfica for £106.7million in 2023. The Blues would rather keep the 25-year-old midfielder, but they won’t stand in his way if they receive an offer worth £120m.
The Spanish giants are yet to contact Chelsea about a potential transfer, but that could change soon, with Fernandez viewed as a priority target. The Argentina international wants to swap Stamford Bridge for the Santiago Bernabeu, so personal terms are not expected to be a problem.
It’s understood that Fernandez informed the Blues of his desire to leave in May. The Argentine first cast doubt over his future in west London during the March international break when he refused to rule out a move before expressing his dream to live in Madrid one day.

Four months or so later, and Real Madrid are yet to make an offer for Fernandez. In the meantime, his agent has been keeping his options open as he explores a potential departure from Chelsea.
In an interview with the Spanish outlet Marca, Pastore said: “Today the player is calmly focused on the national team, he’s playing in a World Cup, he’s very close to advancing to the round of 16…
“He’s only thinking about that, and we’re looking at possibilities for him to leave Chelsea, but there’s nothing firm or confirmed with any club.”
On a potential move to the Spanish capital, whether that be to Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid, Fernandez’s agent added: “He has many friends there, and he’s very good friends with Julián Álvarez, and in the end, they spend all their free time together there.
“And I’m also living in Madrid. Every time he travelled, it was to see me and to sort out work matters, but besides that, who doesn’t love Madrid? I didn’t even play in Madrid… I even live there.”
On Friday night, Argentina will face Cape Verde in the last-32 of the World Cup. Fernandez started each of the opening two group stage fixtures, helping his country secure qualification to the knockout stages.
The Chelsea midfielder was rested for the final game, but he hopes to return to Lionel Scaloni’s starting lineup tomorrow evening. On the World Cup, Pastore said: “I’m seeing a very competitive World Cup with teams we didn’t expect so much from, and they’re putting up a fight.
“I like seeing all the stadiums full; I’ve watched all of Argentina’s matches and I’m very happy with everything I’ve seen from the team,” added the former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder. On Fernandez, he said: “He is doing well, very positive, he is having a very good World Cup, in the first two matches, he helped the team to win comfortably.”
On his client’s best position, Pastore said: “Enzo’s position has changed a lot in recent years. He’s played deep or as a midfielder, getting forward into the box.
“Here with the national team, he starts deep, but ultimately, he’s the only midfielder who gets forward and is close to [Lionel] Messi. He’s a player who adapts very well to any position.”
