Tottenham have three transfer targets in their sights and all of them are open to a summer transfer in a massive boost for Roberto De Zerbi’s ambitious plans
Tottenham Hotspur have been handed the green light to splash out almost £250million on three more signings as Roberto De Zerbi presses ahead with his ambitious squad rebuild.
Spurs narrowly avoided relegation to the Championship last season after finishing 17th in the Premier League for the second year running. That alarming decline has prompted club chiefs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to turn on the spending taps in a determined bid to reverse the side’s fortunes.
De Zerbi, who guided Spurs to safety after replacing Igor Tudor in late March, has wasted little time stamping his authority on the squad. The Lilywhites have already completed four first-team signings this summer.
The experienced trio of Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Martin Dubravka have arrived on free transfers, with £52m splashed out on defender Jan Paul van Hecke in a Brighton reunion for De Zerbi.
That figure could well soar beyond the £250m mark in the coming weeks as Spurs push to complete at least three more marquee signings. Strengthening the centre of midfield appears to be De Zerbi’s priority, with both Matheus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali firmly on Tottenham’s radar.

Fernandes, who was relegated with West Ham United last campaign, is also attracting interest from Manchester United and is expected to command a fee in excess of £80m. According to reports, the Portuguese international is “very keen” on the switch to north London, with Spurs willing to offer a more lucrative contract than United.
If he opts to join De Zerbi’s side, the 21-year-old could be joined by Tonali. The Newcastle United midfielder is understood to have already agreed personal terms with Tottenham and is keen on the move, although Spurs are still negotiating a fee with the Magpies.
An opening £80m bid was rejected earlier this summer, but talks are believed to be progressing well with the two clubs edging towards an agreement worth around £100m. Spurs could yet face competition for his signature from north London rivals Arsenal.
However, the Gunners are thought to be focusing their efforts on Tonali’s Newcastle team-mate Bruno Guimaraes, potentially leaving Spurs with a clearer run at the Italy international. Another player high on De Zerbi’s wishlist is Savinho, who could leave Manchester City after scoring just one league goal last season.
The Brazilian winger is open to a move away from the Etihad Stadium, with talks understood to be moving forward over a deal worth around £60m. That leaves Spurs with a trio of green lights to spend in excess of £240m and take their total summer spending close to the £300m mark.
