Arsenal enter July with the hope of enjoying dream scenarios in the World Cup and the transfer window
Arsenal have entered a crucial period of the summer with the beginning of July. It was in this month in 2025 that five of Arsenal’s eight deals were completed.
Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard, Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, and Viktor Gyokeres all put pen to paper in the seventh month and committed their futures to the club. There is hope that this will be another hectic month for the club as they aim to strengthen their bid to defend the Premier League title.
However, for this hypothetical dream month, which I have been tasked with describing, there can be only one headline act. The World Cup is now in the knockout rounds, and all 15 of Arsenal’s participants made it past the group phase.

Kai Havertz has now left the stage with Germany’s elimination, and it might be more will follow soon. This would mean players would be available to the club sooner, despite it being bad news for them and their countries.
It would no doubt be a dream scenario for Mikel Arteta for all of his players to return from North America unscathed. Injury concerns already exist for William Saliba, Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice, who are absolutely critical for The Gunners.
Arsenal’s first pre-season game is August 1, so to have the vast majority of the team pictured in training come July 31 would be brilliant. But it might take some broken hearts for that to happen, so make your peace with that.
Coming back to transfers, this month will, as mentioned, see teams dropping out of the World Cup. While this will naturally help catalyse talks for potential deals, some players may yet choose to enjoy their entitled holiday before focusing again on their futures.
That being said, if Arsenal can complete early deals for some of their top targets to allow them the maximum exposure to Mikel Arteta, the coaching staff, teammates and philosophy, then that has to be the ambition.
Morgan Rogers, Bruno Guimaraes, Christos Tzolis and Bradley Barcola are all suggested to be players the club are keen on. There will be plenty more as Andrea Berta’s approach to the market is often to be abreast of multiple options for positions of interest in the team.
We know these to be the forward line, particularly on the left, central midfield and the full-back positions. Getting the likes of Rogers in and ready to be involved in this summer’s pre-season would be great, but Aston Villa’s asking price, inflated by Manchester City’s move for Elliot Anderson, remains huge. The hope is that with the player’s desire to make a switch, it could be negotiated down.
Regarding outgoings, getting in additional funds for some of the players that are expected to be on the market will also be on the agenda.
However, some players who are far less desirable will no doubt have to wait until August before interest begins to rise after priority targets are missed out on – Gabriel Jesus being one of those that fills this bracket.
But for Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard, Ethan Nwaneri and potentially Ben White, it could be their final month as Arsenal players. Time will tell.
